About Me

I am an Assistant Professor in the School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Cincinnati. I received a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Oklahoma in 2024. My research largely focuses on interactions between governments and people, including topics such as citizens' perceptions of government, administrative burden, bureaucratic discretion and rule compliance, and even some representative bureaucracy every now and then.

Before pursuing my Ph.D., I received a Master of Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma and worked as the Data Coordinator for the Oklahoma State Department of Education's Early Intervention Program (SoonerStart). I loved serving children and families, and my time at SoonerStart continues to inform my research and teaching.

I currently live in Cincinnati, Ohio with my incredible partner, Sarah, and our two long-nosed greyhounds, Winston and Olive. In my free time, I enjoy cooking (but mostly eating) good food, bird watching, and playing pickleball or tennis with Sarah. I also love many types of music and, while my attendance is a bit more sporadic than it used to be, still like to think of myself as an avid concert goer. I'm always happy to hear about the artists you've been stuck on lately and love getting tips on new songs to add to my rotation. On Saturdays in the fall, you'll  find me either celebrating or lamenting the result of the latest OU football game, as I am far too invested in the sport.
